In my seven years of experience as an urban distance-swimmer, my fascination with tidal data was the gateway to developing a sense of place in the water.  

The New York Harbor and its swollen arteries-- the tempestuous East River, the turbid Harlem River, and the grand rolling Hudson-- have become the essential element in my imagination of the City.    

In collaboration with my co-creator, composer-programmer Nick Didkovsky, the Liminophone is being born: an instrument that sonifies tidal data, enabling us to perform duets with waterfront data in real-time.  

The Liminophone does exist. We have heard the Harbor singing...
